Our Philosophy
Oak & Pine is about more than pretty rooms. I believe that homes should be:
Rooted: Reflecting history, memory, and what matters most to you.
Resourceful: Incorporating thrifted, vintage, and DIY elements.
Functional: Designed for real life — kids, pets, messes, meals, joy.
Sacred: A sanctuary doesn’t require white walls and expensive furniture — it’s about warmth, intention, and spaces you can live in and live in well.
Who We Are
At Oak & Pine Design Company, we believe beautiful spaces don’t require big budgets—just creativity, intention, and a deep respect for the stories our homes can tell. Rooted in the spirit of classic American design, we draw inspiration from the enduring strength of oak and the resourceful resilience of pine.
Our approach is eclectic, grounded in the idea that well-loved, thrifted, and timeworn pieces carry more soul than anything off a showroom floor. We honor what already exists in a space, working with what you have to create environments that feel lived-in, personal, and functional.
We embrace a low-buy, high-style ethos, mixing vintage finds and DIY solutions with timeless design principles. Whether it’s a salvaged farmhouse table or a $10 estate sale lamp reimagined, we’re about crafting rooms that feel authentic—not curated. Our signature is the high/low blend: thoughtful contrasts that celebrate both practicality and beauty.
At its heart, our work is about making homes work for you—places where real life happens, where design feels effortless and honest, and where your own story shapes every corner.
About the Designer
I’m Anna — founder of Oak & Pine Design Company, teacher, lifelong learner, and Jane of many trades. My passion for design is deeply tied to a life shaped by books, classrooms, museums, and travel.
I hold a Master’s in Philosophy and am working on a second in Theology. During the school year, I teach furniture design, drawing, painting, and American Studies. Teaching invites me to explore connections between form, history, and meaning — and informs how I approach every project with thoughtfulness and heart.
I grew up in a house where craftsmanship and creativity were a way of life. My mother was a maker with an eye for beauty and color; my father restored antiques and homes, teaching me to love old wood, hand-built pieces, and the patina of time.
My years abroad gave me a unique appreciation for global craft traditions and the artistry of cultures around the world. I believe in classic elegance — understated, practical, and a bit whimsical — always with an eye for function.
You’ll find my spaces filled with colorful textiles, well-loved books (that are meant to be read, not styled), French antiques, American woodwork, and soulful pieces that tell a story. My goal? Thoughtful design rooted in history, personality, and purpose — with high-quality materials at prices that make sense.
